Pearl Shin, O.D.
Dr. Pearl Shin was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama and earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications with minors in Chemistry and Spanish from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She went on to complete her Doctorate in Optometry at UAB’s School of Optometry, where she also earned a concurrent master’s in Vision Sciences, focusing her research on Dry Eye Disease. During school, she was an active member of Beta Sigma Kappa honor society, the American Optometric Student Association, and Student Volunteer Optometric Services for Humanity, serving both local and international underprivileged communities.
After graduating in 2015, Dr. Shin moved to Denver, Colorado to complete a residency in Ocular Disease and Surgical Management at Omni Eye Specialists. She continued to give back by volunteering at monthly clinics with the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and remained dedicated to advancing the profession through advocacy. In 2021, she was named Colorado’s Young Optometrist of the Year and was inducted into the inaugural class of the American Optometric Association’s Leadership Institute.
Dr. Shin joined Mile High Eye Institute in 2025, where she focuses on managing complex ocular conditions such as cataracts, keratoconus, glaucoma, and other urgent eye health issues. She also loves to participate in the process of improving the quality of life for refractive surgery patients. She’s passionate about patient care and strives to ensure every person she sees feels listened to, respected, and well-cared for.
Outside of work, Dr. Shin enjoys traveling in search of great food, snowboarding, diving into the next good read with her book club, and taking too many of the same photos of her pup, Peanut. Both she and her husband can be found on Tuesday nights watching Below Deck, and she is learning to play golf and will speak to absolutely anyone about it.
